You might think that internet marketing is complex, but actually it is really organized in nature. It is definitely a fairly easy trade since the metrics software for performance measurement is already available to all. If you are doing a business in the internet, you can check and re-launch the sales and campaigns for marketing and better profits just by knowing the results.

Here are six points for you to start your online business:
• When you are choosing your website theme, be clear, concise, and specific. For example, you may have a website that talks about dogs and not dog collars – this means that it caters to a smaller and narrower niche. However, you may create a comprehensive layout if you wish, such as dog hygiene, dog habits, dog psychology, dog training, and dog naming.

Size Matters

post5.JPGThere is a growing trend among Web designers who believe that small text will give a Web page a sleek appearance and provide more space per page for the actual content. This sometimes results in unreasonably small font sizes used in Web pages. This does not sit well with the diverse platforms existing in the market today. Web pages are displayed depending on the browser and the platform the user has. Varying devices such as portable, mobile and projectors make the delivery of Web pages sometimes unpredictable.

Even with Web design targeted for a specific platform, text settings may still vary thereby not producing the desired results. The basic problem is accessibility and usability of the Web page. A good Web design should look good without reducing or enlarging the default text size.

Internet progress is inevitable. That is why design concerns should be given enough considerations. One primary concern is the content. All the information that can be found or available on the site should be of interest to the target audience. The site must be easy, simple and reliable to use. The appearance of the site is important too. The graphics and text used must get the attention of the public taking into considerations the relevance and consistency of the design. And as much as possible, it should be found on the key search engines and advertisement media for easy access.

Graphics in Web Design

post3.JPGThe use of graphics or pictures on Web pages makes them more attractive. Some dynamic Web pages even use graphics as a form of control. For whatever reason you use graphics on your Web pages, there is one thing for sure, it puts a strain on your site and slows down the loading process.

The reduction of the size of Web pages ensures that it will load faster. One sure way to reduce the size is to reduce the file size of images. The first minute will decide whether your users will stay or go to another site. Here are some recommendations on the use of graphics to lessen the downtime of your Web site:
1. Lessen number of colors
2. Crop your images
3. Use Jpeg format
4. Interlace Gif files
5. Slice animated Gifs
6. Cut images to pieces
7. Use thumbnails
8. Scale solid colors
9. Specify height and width
10. Use LOWSRC tags

Viewers like readable fonts

The bigger things are the better they should be. That’s not always the case when it comes to web designing. If readers tend to enlarge font or text size just to read your site, then you probably should think twice about it. Still using HTML font tags for your site? Time to dive into CCS as it is more flexible, easier to maintain, and has lesser bandwidth requirements.

Here are just some tips regarding font sizes:

Size: respect the users’ preferences, avoid small size for content
Anything less than 1em would make your readers squint or go for the CTRL+Mouse roller. It’s not good.
Units: avoid absolute length units for screen display
Rather than use font size in pt, go for the absolute length units
    Legible font-family
If you really need to make your fonts small then it’s better to go for a font-family with aspect values that are high.

This same principle applies with services or information offered from your website. You can offer a free trial period and send out free newsletters. One popular thing being given away now are free PC scans or free credit reports. These freebies are called teasers.

After running the PC scan or credit report, you can alert the customer if there is something that is found in their credit record or PC, and then offer to show them what it is or maybe repair their problem for a certain price. This can be an effective way to create sales or just get more information to your potential clients.

There maybe hundreds of ways for you to promote your website or online business. Some are more effective than others, yet the following method will not only help you to generate traffic to your site, but it will also generate income into your wallet.

One thing that would appeal to everyone is the word “free.” If it’s for free, people will most likely take it. Just think of the cheese samples given away at grocery stores. Most people do not really like the cheese. But most people will take it simply because it is free, and someone was nice enough to offer it.
